2010 is well underway and we are excited and full of vision for how we can reach out to more victims of human trafficking! Thank you so much to everyone who partnered with A21 this past holiday season! For most of the girls in the shelter, this was their first Christmas celebration, and it was full of games, sweets, crafts, and genuine smiles. Your continued generosity and support is providing the girls with safety, and allowing them to take the initial steps towards healing, restoration, and having hope for the future.

Recently in the shelter, many of the girls participated in an activity where they were told to look in the mirror and describe what they saw. At first they were hesitant, but after some encouragement, they began to reveal the brokenness within their hearts. After expressing their feelings towards themselves, they began to tell each other how beautiful and kind they thought one another to be. The A21 staff had the opportunity to speak into their lives and help them see that they are beautiful, valued, and full of worth!

We have recently asked individuals and small groups to write letters to the girls in the shelter, letting them know that people around the world are thinking about them and care about what they have been through. One of the privileges we have had this past month is to see the forgotten dreams of the girls begin to come alive again. Great breakthrough and healing in the hearts of many girls has taken place, along with many answered prayers. Vanya* was sold into sex slavery when she was 16 years old and was forced to offer sexual services to 15-20 clients in a row. She has recently told members of our staff that she dreams of one day being a journalist and we are committed to seeing her dream, along with the dreams of the other girls, become a reality.
